One of the nation’s largest and most trusted rescue missions, URM serves men, women, and families through emergency care, recovery and discipleship, housing, and long-term stability. The Opportunity The Vice President of Operations will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering closely with the CEO to ensure URM’s campuses, facilities, and operational infrastructure effectively support its life-changing ministry. This is far more than a facilities leadership role. The VP will build high-performing teams, strengthen operational systems, guide strategic capital and facility initiatives, and drive excellence across the organization. Position Summary Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Maintenance, Custodial, and Health & Safety functions across URM’s San Pedro campus and two satellite locations, Hope Gardens and Angeles House. The VP will ensure effective day-to-day facility operations, maintain organizational assets, implement preventative and routine maintenance programs, and oversee the staffing and execution of operational activities, procedures, and events that support URM’s ministry and services. Key Responsibilities Lead, recruit, develop, and manage high-performing operations teams. Partner with the CEO on operational strategy and ensure URM’s Christian values are modeled and upheld. Coach and mentor future leaders in partnership with Human Resources. Collaborate with Finance, Development, Human Resources, and other departments on operational priorities. Provide quarterly operations updates to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Board. Maintain relationships with government and private agencies serving similar populations. Oversee financial performance and key financial indicators for assigned areas. Lead Operations and Maintenance activities supporting daily services across URM. Plan and support major events, meetings, and conferences. Evaluate facility mechanical and structural systems and oversee regular maintenance. Provide expertise on new construction and facility renovation projects. Promote ethical, professional, and results-oriented operations aligned with URM’s mission. Qualifications Master’s degree in Operations, Business, or related field. 10+ years of progressively responsible experience. Proven experience leading and developing teams. Strong planning, organization, project management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze complex information and develop innovative solutions. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong customer service and results-oriented mindset. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Current California driver’s license and ability to be added to the company vehicle policy. Commitment to URM’s mission, vision, and core values. This position primarily operates in a professional office environment but requires regular presence across URM facilities and the ability to travel as needed. Physical requirements include occasional lifting, reaching, climbing ladders up to 26 feet, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
