Institutional Advancement Development Manager (HEA) - 400594 POSITION DETAILS The Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) supports, encourages, and promotes the academic mission and vision of the College. Through its various offices, the OIA works with individuals, foundations, corporations, corporate foundations, and government entities to raise funds to support the needs of students, faculty and scholastic activities. The (OIA) coordinates all fundraising for the College by fostering relationships with alumni, faculty and staff retirees, and external constituencies. OIA's responsibilities also include the Kingsborough Community College Foundation. Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Development manager will manage all day-to-day operations of the Advancement Office. The development manager will provide operational management and strategic support of the technical and information infrastructure supporting the Office of College Advancement. They will serve as the primary liaison to the KCC Foundation, the college's information systems and liaison to the finance department, annual auditors and all other departments with operational needs related to the development function. The Development Manager reports to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Duties include: Works with the VP, staff, and governing board to facilitate administrative functions necessary to meet short and long-term advancement goals. Organizes and manages fundraising strategy and operations, including grants. Coordinates development activities, calendar, communication and relevant marketing. Manages the operations development function efficiently and executes development activities in coordination with staff. Manages donor information and builds prospect profiles within the college’s database, ensuring accurate and accessible records; prepares briefings on prospective donors for Donor Relations purposes. Identifies and addresses development issues that affect the well-being and efficacy of the organization. Fosters a culture of philanthropy and ensure that fund development is executed in keeping with the organization's values, vision, and mission. Maintains accountability and ensure compliance with all regulations and laws, as well as the code of ethics for fundraising professionals. Keeps abreast of developments in philanthropy and fund development, and manages procedures for evaluating and accepting gifts, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards. Establishes clear processes for monitoring and reporting on use of gifts, guaranteeing transparency and accountability to donors. Partners with Finance and Administration and other CUNY Central offices involved in the allocation of funds to assure that disbursements are made in accordance with gift agreements with donors. Works collaboratively with the Institutional Advancement team to support fundraising events, donor engagement activities, and signature programs and initiatives of the College Manage some office operations and/or department budget Performs related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required. (Preferably within an educational institution.) Experience independently managing complex projects from concept development through proposal submission, implementation, stewardship, and compliance. Excellent interpersonal, managerial, and organizational skills. Highly organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines effectively. Proactive and solutions-oriented, anticipating challenges and identifying strategies to address them; demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative as a self-starter. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Experience with fundraising and constituent relationship management databases, and an understanding of best practices for capturing, tracking, and reporting corporate and foundation activity and outcomes Demonstrated knowledge and mastery of tools used for donor relations. Detailed-oriented, ability to multitask; excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interest in working as a member and project lead of a team of development and professionals. Commitment to providing the highest level of support and assistance.
