JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mobile equipment to maximize performance and minimize downtime within the aggregate mining operation. This role performs routine inspections, troubleshooting, and necessary repairs on plant equipment while maintaining accurate service documentation. The incumbent must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, adhering to MSHA and company standards at all times. Essential Functions Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Service, repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment that operates throughout the plant in order to maximize performance and limit downtime. Inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot the cause of errors. Perform repairs to address problems when necessary. Handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools in a safe manner throughout the shop and plant. Ensure correct and accurate documentation is completed on a daily and monthly basis regarding all mobile equipment. Enter and maintain service reports for all the mobile equipment in written or electronic form. Assist in driving heavy equipment and vehicles throughout the plant when necessary in order to ensure production continues in an efficient manner. Responsibilities Education High school diploma or equivalent Experience Previous Maintenance and Welding experience Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Must have knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance. Must be familiar with CAT, Empire, Vermeer, Volvo, Deere, Komatsu, and other similar companies. Must demonstrate knowledge of best practices related to using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment. Previous experience with industrial or heavy construction equipment referred to as Yellow Iron: Industrial or construction Welding Excavators Dozers Backhoes Loaders Haul trucks General knowledge of the occupational hazards involved in welding is preferred. Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment listed below is a MUST. Tier 4 Finals -on Heavy Equipment Standards Troubleshooting Understand Diagnostic and Heavy Equipment Computer-based Troubleshooting Engine Hydraulics Electronics Must have sufficient level of education to understand oral and written instructions of a technical nature relating to products and vehicles. Other Requirements Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Other duties as assigned. Salary . The salary is prescribed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates will be placed according to union contract salary scale at $50.05 per hour.
