Position Overview Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor of Public Health University of California San Diego Position Title: Teaching Professor of Public Health Salary Range: $93,700 - $246,000 (base pay). Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, which is negotiated annually. Application Window Open Date: November 24, 2025 Final Date: Tuesday, Nov 24, 2026 Position Description The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science at UC San Diego invites applications for Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor rank faculty positions associated with teaching in our Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) Program. Position Duties Teaching professors are full-time faculty who are responsible for teaching six 4-unit courses per year. These positions are focused on teaching in the BS in Public Health Program and will include teaching on the main UC San Diego campus in La Jolla and at our partner site at Southwestern College in Chula Vista. Teaching may include courses in other School programs, subject to the School's needs. In addition to demonstrating excellence in teaching, individuals in the Teaching Professor series are expected to engage in pedagogy-related professional activities and service to the University and field. They may engage in scientific research as a principal investigator or collaborator and may hold grants. Qualifications Basic Qualifications (required at time of application) Assistant Professor: Candidates must have demonstrated experience teaching in a Public Health-related topic, a minimum of three classes as instructor of record or a minimum of two classes as instructor of record plus a minimum of three classes as teaching assistant. Associate/Full Professor: Candidates must have a PhD, DrPH, or related doctoral degree. Associate/Full Professor: Candidates must have demonstrated experience in teaching, a minimum of five classes in a Public Health-related topic as instructor of record. Additional Qualifications (required at time of start) Assistant Professor: Candidates must have a PhD, DrPh, or related doctoral degree by the time of the start of the appointment. Preferred Qualifications Assistant Professor: Experience in mentoring one or more undergraduate or graduate students in Public Health. Assistant Professor: Experience in curriculum development. Assistant Professor: Experience in pedagogy development or best practices with dissemination to other instructors or the public. Associate/Full Professor: Experience in mentoring one or more undergraduate or graduate students in Public Health. Associate/Full Professor: Experience in curriculum development. Associate/Full Professor: Experience in pedagogy development or best practices with dissemination to other instructors or the public. Associate/Full Professor: Experience in leadership.
