DPS - TOD - LCMS Operations Specialist - 1570

General Description Performs routine (journey-level) training work for employees that use the Learning Management System (LMS). Serves as support staff in the Academic Reporting & Curriculum Support Unit, providing oversight and technical support to learners and instructors/training coordinators, reviewing and processing of training records for the Department, and maintenance of LMS usage and permissions. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provides LMS access, training program support, and training to end‑users and/or agency training staff. Serves as support staff in the Academic Reporting & Curriculum Support Unit. Uploads new training events to the LMS for instructors/training coordinators. Creates submission processes for instructors/training coordinators using the LMS and maintains data integrity standards for course descriptions and lesson plans. Produces training record reports and collaborates with stakeholders to assess and clarify their needs. Conducts quality‑control audits on program material to meet State Commission (TCOLE) requirements and ensure timely reporting to meet State Commission requirements. May research and collaborate to determine best practices and opportunities for advancements in the LMS. Works with training staff to review, plan and adapt the LMS and training program processes and procedures based on end‑user needs. Provides monthly reports on usage and analytics as requested. Serves as backup triage contact for end‑users, assisting with common learner troubleshooting issues such as course enrollment, password resets and training records. Creates tools and training resources for common troubleshooting problems. Communicates pertinent system changes, or enhancements to end‑users and/or trainers. Attends work regularly and observes approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education – High School Diploma/equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited two‑year college with a major in Education, Data Management, or Business Management preferred. Experience – Minimum of one (1) year experience maintaining data and record keeping. One (1) year experience performing progressively complex staff support services to include generating reports and conducting quality‑control audits is preferred. Experience with computerized Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Data Distributions System (TCLEDDS) and TCOLE regulations is preferred. Licensure and/or Certification – If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence. Regulatory Knowledge – Working knowledge of, or ability to assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures. Interpersonal Skills – Experience working productively with others and on a team. Demonstrates poise, tact, diplomacy and ability to establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with internal/external customers. Organizational and Prioritization Skills – Organized, detail‑oriented, flexible, capable of prioritizing in a multi‑demand environment, meeting conflicting deadlines with accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism. Research and Comprehension – Quickly and efficiently accesses relevant information and presents research and conclusions clearly and concisely. Analytical Reasoning/Attention to Detail – Examines data/information, identifies variations, trends, relationships and causal factors, draws accurate conclusions and solves problems. Technology – Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and troubleshooting training program software issues. Able to learn new software/systems. Confidentiality and Protected Information – Handles sensitive and confidential information responsibly and adheres to applicable laws, statutes and policies. Safety – Works safely at all times, avoiding shortcuts, complying with safety standards and best practices. Travel and/or Schedule – Availability for after‑hour and weekend work required. Physical and Environmental Demands Environment: Office/indoors. Ambulatory skills (stand, walk, sit). Hand‑eye coordination and arm/hand/finger dexterity. Ability to speak, hear, and exercise visual acuity. Ability to transfer weights of twenty‑five (25) pounds. Driving requirements: Occasional short trips 1‑2x/month. Salary Salary is contingent upon qualifications and is subject to salary administration and budgetary restrictions.
