Payroll Specialist

Payroll SpecialistThis position is hybrid out of Mesa, AZ. The Payroll Specialist provides accurate and timely payroll services to all Acumen Fiscal Agents client employees and Vendors.Responsibilities include:Payment of AFA client employees' payroll by accurately calculating pay and all deductions, issuing checks in a timely mannerExceeds customer (internal and external) expectations by building productive relationships, and taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyaltyMaintains all payroll information by collecting, calculating and entering data into systemProcess timecards in the payroll software to generate checks, direct deposits, and reports; analyze various reports to ensure accuracy and completeness of payrollCommunicate with internal and external customers to answer questions and provide guidance on policies and proceduresUpdates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, deductions, job titles, functions and client information.Maintain the master file of time sheets and all other payroll related documentation requirePrepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, and disability and non-taxable wagesResolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing informationAs needed, provides payroll information by answering questions and requestsMaintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures, and reporting needed changesMaintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidentialContributes to team effort and success by accomplishing goals and objectivesAbility to handle customer inquiries via phone and e-mail in fast-paced environmentAbility to prioritize and meet rigid deadlinesPerforms all other job-related duties as assignedALL Acumen employees will be vigilant to support the positive compliant cybersecurity company posture by familiarizing themselves with all policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines and act.Qualifications include:High School Diploma or equivalentA background in Customer Service, Client Service, Operations, Payroll or Financial systemsAdvance Excel Skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP's, etc.)Ability to learn new software quicklyAbility to communicate effectively both orally and in writingAbility to respectively and effectively interact with othersAttention to detail and ability to manage time in a time sensitive environmentHigh standard of integrity and sound business ethicsExcellent computer skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel as well as E-MailExcellent interpersonal skills, task focused with a high degree of accuracyAbility to work well in a team environment and with limited supervisionAbility to work within deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.Willing to work overtime, including weekends to meet high volume demandsEquipment normally used includes:Telephone and headset, computer, multiple screens, copier, scanning system, printer, postage machine, calculator, and fax machinesMay use other office equipment as neededPhysical and mental demands include:The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without accommodation.The employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time entering data into multiple systemsThe employee is regularly required to use their fingers, hands, arms, and eyes to input data and fold and/or cut paperThe employee may be required to answer the phone as well as respond to team members and internal customersThe employee is required to operate and maintain a variety of office equipment including a computer, copy machines, scanning and reading equipment and a calculator requiring repetitive motion of the fingers, hands, arms, and eyesThe employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and talk for an hour or moreVision ability is required to do the job, including close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focusAbility to work under stressful conditions that may require handling multiple work assignments with specific deadlines
