Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time. The unit provides care for more than 400 infants each year. The multidisciplinary team actively participates in providing additional support for infants that are moderately ill. Job Duties Provides mechanical ventilation and/or CPAP for a brief duration Provides care for feeders and growers and those that require convalescent care Stabilizes infants less than 32 weeks until the infant can be transferred to Duke University Hospital Functions as a part of a large multidisciplinary team in a shared governance environment, and has a passion for developmental and family centered care Shift Nights, 12 hours Job Summary As a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a patient-centered atmosphere. The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities, utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) to achieve the goals of the nursing department. Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients guided by the DUHS Professional Practice model, participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects or other health-related projects as assigned. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Adhere to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participate in outstanding customer service and maintain respectful relationships with all. Education Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program. Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within five years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification. Work requires graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are encouraged to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the BSN program within seven years of their start date. Experience Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level. CN Is are eligible for promotion to CN II by meeting criteria set forth by the DUHS Vizient Nurse Residency Program within 12 months of hire. Promotions can occur at 12 months of hire, but no later than 18 months of hire. Licensure & Certifications Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
