Job Description

This role focuses on electrical and mechanical maintenance in a modern, clean manufacturing facility on a 3rd shift schedule. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of plant equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The position requires flexibility to work significant overtime, including Fridays and some weekends, in line with production demands.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on plant equipment such as conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, dust collectors, mixers, tanks, silos, valves, palletizers, chillers, and related systems.
• Diagnose, repair, replace, and maintain facility electrical systems, including PLCs, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), lighting, sensors, switches, valves, control wiring, and associated components.
• Carry out mechanical maintenance on product vessels and reactors, pumps, chains, sprockets, motors, bearings, and other rotating equipment.
• Conduct rolling belt conveyor repairs, including work on Lantech and Heisler branded conveyors and related conveyor systems.
• Perform lockout/tagout procedures on 480V three-phase systems to ensure safe isolation of electrical energy sources during maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems, with a strong focus on pneumatic components and vacuum pump systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams to support accurate troubleshooting and repairs.
• Follow and execute preventive maintenance (PM) schedules on plant equipment to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
• Ensure reliable operation of facility support systems, including HVAC units, air compressors, tow motors, oil heaters, and chillers.
• Respond to reactive maintenance needs by diagnosing and repairing equipment that has broken down or is operating outside normal parameters.
• Inspect pumps and gearboxes, perform full breakdowns, repairs, and reassembly, and verify proper operation after maintenance.
• Support automation and control systems by assisting with PLC troubleshooting and related control equipment as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
• Collaborate with production and other departments to minimize downtime and coordinate maintenance work around operational requirements.
• Work safely at all times by following facility safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and best practices for industrial maintenance.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, or at least 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience combined with relevant certifications or technical schooling.
• Proven experience performing pump and gearbox repairs, including full breakdown, inspection, repair, and reassembly.
• Hands-on experience with conveyor repair and maintenance, including belt, roller, and associated mechanical components.
• Strong industrial electrical skills, including work on 480V and 277V systems, with experience entering panels, performing wiring, and conducting more than basic testing or preventive checks.
• Demonstrated ability to work with 480V three-phase electrical systems and safely perform lockout/tagout procedures.
• Practical knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, with emphasis on pneumatic components and vacuum pump repairs.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams for both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience with mechanical repairs involving chains, sprockets, motors, bearings, pumps, and related industrial components.
• Experience in industrial maintenance environments, including work on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, and other process equipment.
• Capability to troubleshoot and repair sensors, HMIs, and other control components in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical certifications or formal schooling in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or related fields (especially when combined with 3+ years of experience).
• Experience with HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting in an industrial or commercial setting.
• Experience in generator maintenance and repairs.
• MIG, TIG, and stick welding skills for maintenance and repair tasks.
• PLC troubleshooting experience, including identifying faults and supporting repairs in automation systems.
• Experience with boiler maintenance and associated piping or control systems.
• Pipe fitting and plumbing skills for process and utility piping.
• Familiarity with automation systems and controls in an industrial environment.
• Comfort working significant overtime, including Fridays and some weekends, in line with production demands.

Work Environment

The facility produces roof coatings, gravel roofing products, wall barriers, caulking, and related construction materials in a very clean, new building located in Warrensville Heights. The environment is temperature-controlled and well maintained, with advanced systems in place to keep floors and work areas clean, even with large mixing machines and dust collectors operating. A respirator is not required for normal work, though employees may choose to wear one if they prefer. The maintenance team works primarily within the local building, focusing on plant equipment and facility systems on a 3rd shift schedule of four 10-hour shifts, typically from 8:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Due to production demands, team members currently work Fridays and some Saturdays and Sundays, often reaching 60+ hours per week. Any hours worked beyond 40 are paid at time-and-a-half, and hours over 50 are paid at double time, creating significant earning potential. Shift patterns on weekends may vary, with schedules such as Friday 8:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., and Saturday/Sunday shifts of either 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., depending on supply and demand. While weekly weekend work cannot be guaranteed, employees can expect at least one weekend off each month. The role involves working with industrial equipment such as conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, HVAC systems, air compressors, tow motors, oil heaters, chillers, and various automation and control systems in a union facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warrensville Heights, OH.

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $33.00/hr.
