Clinical Research Coordinator (Site Lead / Founding Role)

The Opportunity

We are an established, high-volume multi-specialty surgical and diagnostic practice launching a dedicated Clinical Research Division. We are seeking a powerhouse Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to serve as our founding site lead.

This is not a traditional CRC position.

We are specifically seeking an experienced research professional who understands not only how to successfully run clinical trials, but how to identify, pursue, negotiate, and bring new clinical trials into a research site.

You will be the architect of our research infrastructure, working directly with our Board-Certified Physicians and ownership to build a premier investigative site.

A major focus of this position will be developing relationships with Sponsors and CROs, identifying study opportunities, completing feasibility and site-selection processes, securing new trials, and negotiating competitive study budgets and site terms.

Core Responsibilities

• Study Acquisition & Business Development: Proactively identify and pursue new clinical trial opportunities with Sponsors, CROs, pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies. Develop relationships with decision-makers and help position our site for study selection.

• Sponsor & CRO Negotiations: Work directly with Sponsors and CROs to negotiate study budgets, start-up fees, per-patient payments, screen failures, pass-through expenses, and other site-related costs and terms.

• Feasibility & Site Selection: Lead feasibility questionnaires, qualification calls, Site Selection Visits (SSVs), and capability presentations with the goal of converting opportunities into awarded clinical trials.

• Division Launch: Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for study conduct, drug/device storage, regulatory compliance, and data management.

• Study Startup: Manage the regulatory "green light" process, including IRB submissions, 1572s, CVs, training logs, essential documents, and Site Initiation Visits.

• Patient Management: Oversee the entire subject lifecycle—from pre-screening our existing patient population through Informed Consent, randomization, study visits, and follow-up.

• Sponsor Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for Sponsors, CROs, and CRAs; coordinate Monitoring Visits and maintain inspection-ready documentation.

• Quality Assurance: Maintain ALCOA+ standards for EDC and source documentation and coordinate SAE reporting with the Principal Investigator.

Dedicated CRC Support

You will not be expected to build and operate the division alone.

This position will have a dedicated Assistant CRC to support patient scheduling, study visits, documentation, regulatory activities, data entry, and other day-to-day research responsibilities.

This support is designed to allow the Site Lead to dedicate meaningful time to securing new trials, Sponsor/CRO relationships, negotiations, study start-up, and overall research growth.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of active clinical research experience.

• Study Acquisition Experience: Proven experience identifying, pursuing, and successfully securing clinical trials for a research site is strongly preferred and will be a major consideration in candidate selection.

• Sponsor/CRO Experience: Demonstrated experience working directly with Sponsors and CROs on feasibility, site selection, study acquisition, and budget negotiations.

• Experience in Surgical, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Spine, or Medical Device trials is highly preferred.

• Certification: CCRC (ACRP) or CCRP/CCRA or comparable research certification preferred.

• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines and experience with major EDC platforms such as Medidata Rave, Veeva, or Oracle.

• Leadership: Proven ability to work independently, take ownership, and confidently coordinate with physicians and executive leadership.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, RN, or equivalent clinical/research background preferred.
