Maintenance Supervisor - Manufacturing

Location: Kansas City, KS Job Type: 12-Month Contract Schedule: On-Site | 2nd or 3rd Shift Pay Rate: Up to $43.50/hour Overtime: Approximately 5 hours per week Start Date: August 24, 2026 Potential Extension: Yes

Our client, a large global manufacturer in Kansas City, KS, is seeking experienced Maintenance Supervisors to lead skilled maintenance teams and support equipment reliability in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who understands what it takes to keep production equipment running safely and efficiently while developing technicians, improving preventive maintenance programs, and reducing unplanned downtime. The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee day-to-day maintenance execution, troubleshooting, workforce performance, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Two openings are available on 2nd and 3rd shift. Initial training will take place on 1st shift.

Schedule

• Training Schedule: 6:00 AM-2:00 PM
• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM-10:00 PM
• 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM-6:00 AM
• Approximately 40 hours per week with an estimated 5 hours of overtime weekly
• Position is fully on-site
• No travel required

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, train, motivate, and evaluate maintenance technicians in a multi-shift manufacturing operation.
• Assign daily and weekly maintenance work while managing schedules, staffing priorities, and overtime.
• Establish clear priorities and ensure work orders are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
• Develop, execute, and continuously improve preventive maintenance programs for production equipment and facility assets.
• Coordinate preventive, corrective, emergency, planned, and seasonal maintenance activities while minimizing production disruptions.
• Oversee troubleshooting and repairs involving mechanical, electrical, controls, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on troubleshooting support for complex equipment issues when needed.
• Lead root-cause analysis and breakdown elimination efforts using methodologies such as 5 Whys and A3 problem solving.
• Implement sustainable corrective actions designed to prevent repeat equipment failures.
• Improve equipment reliability, uptime, maintenance labor utilization, and other key maintenance performance indicators.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspections, repair documentation, labor reporting, audits, and shift activity within the site's CMMS.
• Monitor maintenance performance data and identify opportunities for improved asset reliability and work execution.
• Enforce workplace safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and GMP practices.
• Conduct equipment, facility, safety, and process inspections to identify potential hazards and reliability concerns.
• Promote proper PPE usage and reinforce established safety procedures throughout maintenance operations.
• Coordinate contractors and outside vendors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with site requirements.
• Support maintenance budget objectives, cost-control initiatives, and appropriate spare-parts utilization.
• Partner closely with Production, Operations, Engineering, Safety, Quality, Sanitation, and site leadership.
• Support Lean Manufacturing, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
• Develop the technical capabilities and professional growth of maintenance team members.
• Perform additional maintenance leadership responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 5 years of maintenance supervision experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, controls, pneumatic, hydraulic, and industrial automation systems.
