Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Must-Have: Experience in Medical Intensive Care Unit and Surgical Intensive Care Unit Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and manage conditions related to multisystem organ dysfunction/failure Experience in obtaining 12 lead EKG/ECG and monitoring central venous pressure Proficient in managing pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, chronic/acute renal failure, and arterial line management Experience with blood product administration and central line/PICC line management Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs, continuous IV sedation, and administering emergency medications Ability to titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive drips Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and assisting with BiPAP management Care of ventilated patients and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE Proficient in phlebotomy and managing surgical wounds with drains/wound vacs Description: This role requires a registered nurse with ICU experience. The nurse will be responsible for consistently maintaining a patient ratio of 1:2. Candidates must be willing to work every other weekend. The unit handles pre and post-operative cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries. There is overflow from medicine and neuro-medicine cases. The nurse will also assist with pre-and post-transplant patients. The patient population includes those with respiratory failure, ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac issues, strokes, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis. Special equipment includes IV pumps, CRRT/dialysis, ventilators, and hemodynamic/invasive monitoring devices. Interdisciplinary support is available from physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy, among others. Candidates must be comfortable floating within service lines to meet unit needs. The role may involve caring for patients during end-of-life and organ donation processes.
