Personal Assistant/House Manager

Part-Time Personal Assistant & Household Manager The owners of Drab to Fab are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Personal Assistant and Household Manager for long-term support in their home and personal lives. We currently live in an apartment and expect to purchase a home within the next 12-18 months. The position is currently part-time, averaging approximately 20-25 hours per week, with the possibility of growing into a more substantial or full-time household-management role after that transition. This is not intended to become a position within the core Drab to Fab business. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, discreet, comfortable working independently, and committed to consistently high-quality work. This is a hands-on household position involving meal preparation, dog care, errands, laundry coordination, organization, and light household upkeep. Schedule and Compensation Approximately 20-25 hours per week Primarily Monday through Thursday Start time no later than 11:00 a.m. Occasional evening, weekend, overnight, or pet-sitting work may be available Weekly hours may fluctuate based on household needs and travel $28-$32 per hour , depending on experience and qualifications Candidates should be comfortable with the current part-time schedule and should not rely on the position immediately becoming full-time. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Meal Planning and Food Preparation Plan, shop for, and prepare consistently high-quality vegan meals. Follow recipes, instructions, preferred brands, and established quality standards. Adapt meals as dietary restrictions, nutritional needs, or preferences change. Research suitable recipes and ingredients when requested. Maintain an organized kitchen, refrigerator, freezer, and pantry. Monitor groceries and household supplies and replenish items before they run out. Communicate before making significant ingredient substitutions or changes. Clean and reset the kitchen after cooking. Strong cooking skills and genuine interest in producing attractive, flavorful, high-quality vegan food are important for this position. Household Management Perform routine household walkthroughs and maintain a household task list. Manage light cleaning and upkeep between visits from the weekly housekeeper, who comes on Fridays. Make beds, handle dishes, maintain organized common areas, and address routine household needs. Coordinate laundry being sent out for service. Receive, sort, fold or hang, and put away returned laundry. Organize and declutter closets, cabinets, storage areas, and household spaces. Coordinate household appointments, vendors, deliveries, and routine maintenance when needed. Track assigned projects and tasks through completion. Dog Care Feed and care for three dogs, including one approximately 100-pound dog. Walk and safely handle the dogs as needed. Brush the dogs’ teeth according to their established routine. Brush their coats weekly. Maintain dog food, medication, treats, and pet-supply inventory. Keep pet dishes, bedding, and related areas clean and organized. Communicate promptly regarding changes in health, appetite, behavior, or mobility. Provide occasional pet sitting, house sitting, evening, weekend, or overnight care when scheduled. Errands and Personal Support Grocery shopping and household purchasing. Returns, exchanges, shipping, package tracking, pickups, and dry cleaning. Appointment and reservation coordination. Personal research and purchasing. Maintain receipts and basic household expense records. Verify instructions, store hours, return requirements, and necessary information before completing errands. Performance Expectations The successful candidate will: Complete work thoroughly rather than leaving tasks partially finished. Maintain consistent quality and attention to detail. Anticipate routine household needs without waiting for repeated instructions. Follow established preferences, recipes, checklists, and household systems. Exercise sound judgment while knowing when to ask for clarification. Communicate concisely and proactively when plans, timing, or availability change. Receive feedback professionally and make prompt adjustments. Take responsibility for assigned tasks from beginning through confirmed completion. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all personal and business information. Required Qualifications Legally authorized to work in the United States. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Strong cooking and meal-preparation skills. Comfortable preparing exclusively or primarily vegan meals. Comfortable safely handling multiple dogs, including a large dog. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Consistent punctuality, reliability, and follow-through. Ability to work independently in a private residence. Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and complete confidentiality. Comfortable performing household work involving standing, bending, lifting groceries and supplies, and moving throughout the home. Preferred Experience Previous work as a personal assistant, household manager, family assistant, estate assistant, private cook, nanny, or hospitality professional. Experience preparing vegan or dietary-restriction-friendly meals. Experience caring for multiple or large dogs. Familiarity with calendars, online ordering, task-management applications, and household organization. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are helpful but not required. Working Environment Work is primarily performed in a private residence. The household includes three dogs. The home and workplace are smoke-free. Professional discretion and respect for the owners’ privacy are required at all times. Interview and Screening Process Selected applicants may be invited to participate in a mandatory paid working interview involving representative duties such as meal preparation, household organization, errands, and dog care. Any employment offer may be contingent upon satisfactory reference checks, employment verification, driving-record review, and appropriate background screening.
