WHAT YOU’LL DO

As Manager, Operations, you will serve as the operations and logistics support for a portfolio of regions. You will support the work of both the SMD, Leadership Development, and regional staff, with portions of your work ongoing, and others varying with the time of year. In this position, the focus and demands of various work streams will ebb and flow throughout the year. You will support the SMD, Leadership Development with CM retention tracking, and partner with the MD, Matriculation Generalist, to create and implement efficient incoming corps member processes and systems. You are responsible for corps member retention processes: documenting and processing corps member exits and leaves for TFA and AmeriCorps. You will also be responsible for regional AmeriCorps program management, implementing processes for your portfolio of regions to ensure 100% of our AmeriCorps members clear background checks, submit about 20 pieces of required documentation, and generally follow the federal laws required. To do so, you will work collaboratively with MDs, Leadership Development, the MD, Matriculation Generalist, regional staff, development staff, and the AmeriCorps Partnerships Team.

The ideal candidate loves working on projects with numerous moving pieces and being the one to ensure that all of the pieces come together to form a coherent picture. You are a skilled project planner and implementer and have a genuine excitement for behind-the-scenes work, using the efficiency and support of others to achieve collective goals.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

In this role, you will:

Operations and Logistics (25 - 30%)

• Manage CM retention procedures, ensuring all exits and leaves are documented and processed on time.
• Support the preparation of operations and logistics for the summer teaching practicum for each region in your portfolio. (i.e., Background check clearance letters)
• Provide logistical support & communication for scheduling (i.e., check-ins, team meetings, internal/external meetings, or events).
• Support with data management
• Ensure coordination between the matric team and MD,LDs to provide streamlined and consistent incoming corps member experiences. Developing and executing communication systems or templates as needed.
• Support the MD, Matriculation Generalist, with capacity during corps member smoothing windows in preparation for ICM confirmation.

AmeriCorps Management (55 - 60%)

AmeriCorps work peaks between April and September as nearly full-time. For the rest of the year, it averages 35% of capacity (considering potential audits, training, etc.).

• Plan, communicate, track, and manage AmeriCorps action items for all AmeriCorps members in their assigned regions, including the following: enrollment and background checks; midyear evaluations; exiting/end-of-year paperwork; end-of-year student achievement data collection; and status changes.

• Build knowledge and investment in AmeriCorps with other TFA staff on requirements and train them on their responsibilities (i.e., train MDs Leadership Development to complete mid-year evaluations).
• Maintain AmeriCorps member files and respond to audits from the state service commission or the federal agency.
• Plan and implement virtual and in-person days of service.
• Manage systems to ensure that principals are appropriately trained on AmeriCorps requirements.
• Provide input and feedback to standardized and centralized work; as needed, create, edit, or pilot work products, including through working groups.
• If regions in your Hub have state AmeriCorps grants:
  • Understand and track state-grant-specific requirements.
  • With regional and/or development staff, build a relationship with commission staff.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required by your region’s commission(s).
  • Provide data and/or feedback to grant writers for grant applications and progress reports as necessary.
• In hubs with fewer AmeriCorps demands, flow into other Hubs to support AmeriCorps execution work during peak periods.

Other (10 - 20%):

• Serve as an “all hands on deck” team member willing to support your program team in various ways as needs and opportunities arise, including selection.
• Engage in conversations for ongoing personal reflection and learning, acknowledging that we are never done learning and growing.
• Complete general administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

A skilled project planner and implementer, the Manager, Operations is relationship-focused and leverages their collaborative skills to manage multiple projects throughout the year with various stakeholders. On a given week, you can expect to be following up with corps members and MDLDs on AmeriCorps action items, processing retention tickets to ensure corps member statuses are up to date, partnering with other M, Ops to plan upcoming service days, and attending state commission meetings while supporting team operation activities for your hub. You will create communication plans and processes to integrate AmeriCorps operations into TFA operations and train staff on requirements and responsibilities.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of work experience
• Willing to work some nights and occasional weekends
• Travel: Ability to travel 2-8 times per year, depending on AmeriCorps commission requirements

BONUS (preferred qualifications)

• 5+ years work experience
• Experience managing regional/national AmeriCorps grants or similar grant management experience
• A track record of getting results while managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
• Experience working at Teach For America

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost-of-labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the minimum and the salary range, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

• Tier A: $55,700 -$73,100
• Tier B: $60,800 - $79,700
• Tier C: $ 65,700- $86,300
