Most importantly, our programs for both children and adults consistently rank among the nation's best in terms of patient outcomes.SummaryMedical Assistant performs specialized work in inpatient or ambulatory care settings. Emphasis of the work is on assisting providers, nurse managers and Case Manager in the examination and treatment of patients and performing a variety of related clerical tasks.ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Duties (may include but not limited to):Using computer applications;Answering telephonesWelcoming patientsUpdating and filing patient medical recordsCoding and filling out insurance formsScheduling appointmentsArranging for hospital admissions and laboratory servicesHandling correspondence, billing, and bookkeepingClinical Duties (may include but not limited to):Taking medical histories;Preparing patients for examination;Assisting the physician during exams and certain procedures;Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens;Performing basic laboratory tests;Drawing blood;Taking electrocardiograms;May perform other advanced clinical duties under direction and supervision of a nurse or a physician, as needed based on assigned unit.Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.Generally, requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.Graduation from an approved Medical Assistant school is required.Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
