Senior Associate, Financial Instruments & Technology

Kroll's Financial Instruments and Technology practice is a leading valuation and advisory solutions provider for a wide range of clientele, including asset managers, hedge funds, fund administrators, banks, insurers, private equity firms, and investment firms. Our professionals work on a broad spectrum of valuation and advisory projects covering structured products, portfolios of whole loans, alternative investments, private equity, esoteric assets and more. Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Perform valuation analysis on a wide range of investments across industries and geographies using accepted approaches and theory. Develop deep technical strength in the valuation of various asset classes, valuation theory, methodologies, and fundamentals of constructing and reviewing valuation models, including DCF, market approaches, Monte‑Carlo, and bespoke methods. Review investment memoranda, governing documents of structured investments, management presentations, data tapes, and client models. Assist the team in interviewing clients, preparing information request lists, and participating in face‑to‑face meetings to gather engagement data. Work with management to build and maintain client relationships. Report and present analyses and conclusions through written reports and presentations to internal teams and clients. Attend relevant industry events to broaden knowledge and experience within the alternative asset industry. Essential Traits Experience with credit analysis, structured securities, and whole loan valuations (RMBS, CMBS, ABS, etc.) and familiarity with Intex, Bloomberg, Andrew Davidson & Co., and other tools. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, statistics, economics, or an MBA. Minimum 2 years constructing and reviewing valuation models and other financial models, including DCF, market approaches, whole loan models, and structured investment models. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Fundamental understanding of financial valuation theory, methodologies, and market applications. Excellent understanding of financial document analysis with the ability to work through key assumptions, implicit caveats, and limitations. Effective interpersonal, comprehension, and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to master new tasks quickly and efficiently. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple ongoing assignments. Creative thinker with strong intellectual curiosity. Familiarity with relevant accounting standards and policies from the AICPA and other oversight bodies. Knowledge of software packages including Excel and PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills that support diverse communities. CPA or CFA desirable. Experience working with diverse teams.
