Accountant

Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant to join our team at the Board of Education Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate financial information to support decision-making processes. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. Responsibilities Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Monitor and reconcile bank statements and financial accounts on a regular basis. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for review by management and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding financial reporting and tax obligations. Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. Conduct regular audits of financial data to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support for various initiatives. Assist in the preparation of grant applications and financial reports related to grants. Maintain updated knowledge of accounting software and financial regulations. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance professional skills. Requirements Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, as well as financial reporting standards. Proficiency in accounting software CSI preferred (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including staff, administrators, and external stakeholders. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. CPA certification is a plus but not required.
