Rental Sales Rep

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Hawthorne Cat Sales Representative (Sales Rep) works under the Director of Sales and Rentals to achieve departmental sales goals through direct personal sales contact with rental, marine, and used equipment customers.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Sales and Rentals, the Sales Representative achieves departmental sales goals through direct personal sales contact with rental, marine, and used equipment customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop and implement a marketing plan for an assigned customer base and geographic territory. Develop and expand the current customer database and update it monthly using Sales Link. Sell and rent new and used machinery; complete sales invoices. Provide financial counseling and market promotion to the entire customer base to facilitate sales, ensuring customers are invoiced and funds are received by the Company. Cold‑call to develop new accounts and expand the database. Control expenses required in sales transactions and adhere to Hawthorne guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous sales experience in the heavy equipment industry. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. PC skills. Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills. Positive attitude and self‑starter. Organized and a good planner. Ability to set and meet goals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Walking – moves about on foot, often through uneven terrain. Handling – uses hands to seize or help. Lifting – raises or lowers miscellaneous paperwork. Reaching – extends hands and arms in any direction. Stooping – bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist. Standing – remains standing if required to perform various functions of the job. Vision – reads computer and paperwork. Talking – communicates by phone and in person. Sitting – sits at desk for extended periods.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Noise – works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise. Temperature/Weather – works outside and in an office environment with variations of temperature and weather. Exposure – subject to foul odors, fumes and harsh substances.
