Health Specialist (RN, Remote and Temporary)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides advanced clinical inquiry responses (verbal and written) to health‑related inquiries from consumers, educators, and medical/health professionals. Provides medical subject matter expertise and serves as a subject‑matter expert on CDC‑INFO topics such as HIV/AIDS, immunizations, environmental health, NIOSH, tuberculosis, and statistics. Performs advanced database searches and composes documents, reports, and correspondence. Documents all incoming inquiries and responds to medical personnel and clinicians in both verbal and written formats. Participates in special projects as required and responds to inquiries resulting from current events such as food outbreaks and natural disasters. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent with 2–4 years of experience. May have additional training or education in a relevant area of specialization. Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a current RN license (required). Experience in medical, scientific, and public health disciplines. Clinical knowledge of and experience with CDC‑related topics. Proficient internet search skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Excellent listening, comprehension, communication (verbal and written), problem‑solving, customer‑service skill sets. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively, with demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills and the capacity to organize simultaneous tasks. Personal Device This position requires the use of your own personal device. Home Office Requirements Internet speed of 25Mbps or higher (50Mbps for shared internet connectivity) and a minimum upload speed of 5Mbps. Connectivity to the internet via Category5 or 6 Ethernet patch cable to the home internet router. Personal computer or laptop (Chromebooks, tablets, and notebooks are not allowed) with one of the following operating systems: Windows10 or 11 (Windows11 preferred) Mac: Big Sur (11.0.1+), Catalina (10.15), or Monterey (12.3) Private and secure work area with an adequate power source. Must currently and permanently reside in the continental United States. Must have a smartphone (required only to log into Maximus systems) and a webcam for training and occasional internal meetings.
