Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit, managing cardiovascular and wound-related diagnoses
• Perform cardiac monitoring duties including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and activation of Rapid Response Teams
• Perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement, line care, and management as mandatory competencies
• Administer and manage respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
• Maintain proper isolation precautions and utilize special equipment including Hoyer lifts and wound vacs
• Float as needed to other units (MS, ICU, ED) to care for Med/Surg level patients or serve as helping hands within scope of practice

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN license (must be in hand at time of submission; pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Surgical/Telemetry RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• EPIC electronic health record experience (hard requirement)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Rapid Response Team protocols
• Familiarity with wound vac and Hoyer lift equipment
• Ability to accommodate a block scheduling format
