Construction Safety Specialist Primary Location: Columbus, OH Additional Project Locations: Lima, OH & Franklin Furnace, OH (as project needs require) Start Date: ASAP Type: Full-Time W2 | Direct Hire Compensation & Benefits Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 Annually Relocation Assistance: $2,500 Paid on First Check Benefits: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, and Full Benefits Package Company Perks: Vehicle Stipend, Fuel Card (Business Use Only), and Company Phone or Phone Stipend Additional Incentive: 10% Compensation Increase While Assigned to Per Diem Projects outside of Columbus, OH, Plus $178/Day Per Diem While Onsite Pay Frequency: Bi-Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday Additional Schedule Details: Overtime paid when working Saturdays and Sundays. The Construction Safety Specialist will work closely with project teams, field leadership, craft personnel, and subcontractors to promote safe work practices, maintain compliance, and support successful project execution. The role combines field-based safety oversight with training, auditing, incident management, and regulatory compliance responsibilities. Required Qualifications OSHA 500 Certification OR OSHA 510 Certification Required Minimum 2+ Years of Construction Safety Experience Preferred Qualifications CHST, ASP, CSP, or Other BCSP Credential Civil Construction Safety Experience Concrete Construction Experience General Contractor Experience Excavation and Utility Construction Experience Safety Training and Regulatory Compliance Experience What You'll Be Doing Perform routine jobsite safety audits and corrective action follow-up Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and client safety standards Conduct safety training and assist with project orientations Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses Provide first-response assistance for injured workers when necessary Manage site-specific safety documentation and reporting requirementsParticipate in morning huddles, toolbox talks, and safety meetings Work closely with field leadership to identify hazards and improve safety performance Support respiratory protection programs, fit testing, and compliance initiatives Maintain required certifications, records, and jobsite approvals Conduct field observations and hazard assessments on active construction projects Promote a proactive safety culture throughout all assigned projects Technical Knowledge Candidates Should Have Working Knowledge Of OSHA Construction Standards Civil Construction Safety Concrete Construction Operations Excavation & Trenching Safety Requirements Contractor Safety Management Safety Auditing & Inspections Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis Safety Training & Orientation Programs Respiratory Protection Programs Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Construction Risk Assessment & Mitigation Regulatory Compliance and Documentation Field Safety Leadership & Employee Engagement What Success Looks Like The ideal candidate is a proactive, field-focused safety professional who enjoys working directly with project teams and craft personnel to improve safety performance.
