Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required License: Pending license accepted Certifications: - ACLS - BLS Must-Have: - Experience with pre and post-operative vascular surgical services Description: Position is for a Step-Down nurse. Staffing ratios are typically 1:3-4 depending on patient acuity. Candidates must have experience in vascular surgical services including abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomies, and peripheral vascular interventions. The unit provides post-operative care for patients who do not require ICU but still need a higher level of care. Patients may include adolescent and adult surgical patients. The unit monitors patients via a telemetry system with continuous ECG. Advanced medication infusions may include heparin, bivalirudin, alteplase, amiodarone, phenylephrine, and nicardipine. The expected daily census is around 22 patients with a total of 26 beds available. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services among others. All travelers must be willing to float within the service line as needed. No local candidates are accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility. Team members are required to have ACLS certification by the compliance deadline. Candidates must complete specified labs and modules prior to commencing the assignment.
