Hydraquip - Purchasing Manager

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for supervising and leading a team of purchasing associates, ensuring cost-effective purchases and the efficient use of company resources, and optimizing inventory levels to meet customer demand and maximize profitability of the organization. Responsibilities Develop procurement strategy to optimize the purchasing process, adopt new technology, and enhance purchasing efficiencies and outcomes for Hydraquip. Own and enforce company policies and procedures pertaining to the purchase of inventory and non‑inventory material and other relevant procurement activities. Establish and maintain standards for accurate current and historical records and system data related to supplier pricing, discounting, and procurement information. Develop and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and measurements related to inventory management and supplier performance. Manage purchase requisitions from the sales staff to ensure alignment with company policies, goals, and budgetary constraints. Ensure purchasing documents are completed properly and terms and conditions of purchase are appropriate. Procure select product lines. Oversee and manage the daily activities of the purchasing team, set clear expectations, provide guidance, and ensure that team members understand their roles and responsibilities. Participate in recruitment and hiring of purchasing team members, selecting qualified candidates, and develop and implement training programs. Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and track team performance against KPIs. Support the organization’s continual improvement program and comply with ISO 9001:2015 requirements by adhering to the Quality Policy and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Education and Training Bachelor's degree in industrial distribution, technical field, business administration, management, or a related field preferred. Certificate in Effective Inventory Management or similar course preferred. Experience may be accepted in lieu of education. Experience 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing, distribution, or a related field. Experience in an ISO 9001 environment is a plus. Education may be accepted in lieu of experience. Knowledge and Skills Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management. Strong negotiation and communication skills. Knowledge of procurement software and tools. Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret data. Leadership and team management skills. Effective communication with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Proficiency in numerical calculations involving discounts, interest rates, fractions, and percentages. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
