Internship Overview Welcome to VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital (VCA HAH)! We are a fun, down‑to‑earth group that offers a fast‑paced, exciting internship experience. Interns receive rotations in emergency medicine, specialty medicine, and general practice all in one location, allowing them to see a vast array of cases and to act as the primary care doctor on many of those cases. The internship encourages problem‑solving skills while providing ample opportunity to perform and become comfortable with a variety of procedures. Program Goals and Experience The program aims to provide a blend of didactic and clinical experience. Interns develop case assessment and management skills, client communication, and advance future career interests in veterinary medicine. Through primary case management, mentorship, case discussions, radiology and morbidity & mortality rounds, and case‑based presentations, interns gain hands‑on experience. Multiple cadaver laboratories, including ultrasound, bandaging, and “tubes” labs, support practical skill development from the first few days of orientation. Interns participate in a hybrid practice that offers both specialty and general services, fostering teamwork and collaboration across veterinary branches. By the end of the year, interns are prepared to enter a fast‑paced career as a general/emergency practitioner or to advance toward a specialty path. Location Hollywood, Florida – located between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, with easy access to beaches and South Florida cultural, social, and sporting events.
