Our practice is courtroom-experienced and litigation-capable, with a strong emphasis on effective pre-trial advocacy, client communication, and strategic case resolution. While we are prepared to take cases to trial when appropriate, much of our work involves managing active dockets, navigating pre-trial litigation, and delivering practical, client-focused outcomes. We are seeking a Criminal Defense Associate Attorney who is comfortable managing a full criminal caseload and who understands that client intake and case sign-up are a critical part of the role. This position involves managing a mixed criminal defense caseload of approximately 60–70 matters, including both misdemeanors and felonies. The work includes a balance of pre-trial litigation, negotiations, motion practice, court appearances, and trials as needed. A component of this role is conducting client intakes, communicating with prospective clients, and converting intakes into retained cases. The successful candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of the client relationship from first contact through resolution. Most matters are handled in Maricopa County, with occasional appearances in Pinal and Yavapai Counties. Required Qualifications Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona 3–5 years of criminal defense or prosecution experience preferred Experience handling both misdemeanor and felony matters Comfortable appearing in court and litigating contested issues Willing and able to take cases to trial when necessary Strong client-facing communication, judgment, and professionalism Willing to participate actively in client intakes and case sign-ups Able to manage a full caseload independently without micromanagement Primary Responsibilities Handle criminal defense matters from intake through resolution Manage an active caseload of approximately 60–70 cases Conduct client intakes, consult with prospective clients, and assist with signing new matters Appear regularly in court for hearings, conferences, and motions Conduct client meetings, negotiations, and motion practice Prepare cases for trial and try cases when appropriate Collaborate with attorneys and staff to support firm operations and growth Opportunity to assist on personal injury matters as experience and interest develop Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence Confident, professional, and empathetic with clients Comfortable discussing fees, expectations, and case strategy with prospective clients Organized and dependable in managing a busy docket Team-oriented while capable of working independently Comfortable with both pre-trial litigation and trial-level advocacy Not a fit for someone requiring extensive training or close supervision Paid vacation time 401(k) Healthcare benefits for the employee Long-term growth potential within the firm This role is ideal for a criminal defense attorney who values hands-on client work, courtroom experience, and professional autonomy , and who understands that building and maintaining client relationships including intake and sign-up is a core part of a successful practice. #J-18808-Ljbffr
