Summary The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is an independent office whose mission is to promote excellence, integrity, and accountability throughout the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In our dynamic environment, the OIG conducts investigations, audits, evaluations, and inspections to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency and to detect and prevent waste, fraud, and mismanagement in DHS programs and operations. Responsibilities This announcement is for the DHS-Wide Career Expo in Buffalo, NY. Applicant must register for the Career Expo to apply and be considered. **This is an open continuous announcement with two cutoff Dates: 08/19/2026 09/02/2026 The position is in the Technology Directorate, Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Office of Technology & Innovation (OTI), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). OCIO is responsible for the overall management of all operational information technology (IT) resources and support services for OIG. The incumbent provides leadership, direction, and oversight to a staff that are responsible for designing, deploying, implementing, monitoring, securing, and operating enterprise-level hardware, software, cloud services, and hybrid infrastructure solutions that encompass the OIG IT enterprise. Typical tasks include: Serves as an expert advisor for IT Specialists and contractors in the Technology Directorate, overseeing OIG's IT engineering operations, including security configuration and implementation of servers, cloud systems, storage, virtual infrastructure, network devices, enterprise platforms, and management software. Supports cybersecurity operations for IT networks, systems, and cloud platforms by applying cybersecurity policies and security engineering principles, including identity and access management, encryption, continuous monitoring, secure configuration, and automation. Assists in analyzing, planning, and supporting OIG's enterprise IT framework to align cloud modernization, automation initiatives, and digital transformation efforts with organizational goals. Leads planning, design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of networked and cloud systems. Defines connectivity needs, maintains architecture, optimizes infrastructure, monitors performance, resolves delivery issues, and enforces cybersecurity standards in network and enterprise services. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum Qualifications GS-13: Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience at this level includes: Manage and monitor the daily operations of all OIG IT systems to maintain functionality and support for end users. Coordinate and implement IT modernization initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and meet OIG objectives. Oversee and apply security measures to safeguard OIG systems and data, supporting compliance with applicable cybersecurity policies. Minimum Qualifications GS-14: Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience at this level includes: Lead and oversee the continuous operation and performance of all OIG IT systems to ensure reliability and availability for mission needs. Direct the planning, execution, and management of complex IT modernization projects, aligning with OIG strategic priorities and federal requirements. Lead the development and enforcement of cybersecurity strategies and controls to protect OIG systems and data, ensuring compliance with federal standards. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date 09/02/2026 of this announcement.
