Special Education Teacher
Position Overview
A dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher is sought to support students with diverse learning needs for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is essential in delivering individualized instruction and fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
Assignment Details
- Start Date: August 24, 2026
- End Date: June 4, 2027
- Schedule: Full-time
- Setting: Elementary and Resource Room environments
Caseload
- Elementary students in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Cognitive Impairment (CI) classrooms, as well as a Resource Room setting
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
- Provide specialized instruction aligned with state standards and individual student goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student success
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and compliance records
- Utilize effective behavior management and instructional strategies for diverse learners
- Participate in IEP meetings, team planning sessions, and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
- Valid and active Michigan Special Education Teaching License required
- Must hold one of the following endorsements:
- Cognitive Impairment (CI)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Experience working with elementary-age students and/or in resource settings preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
