Maintenance Supervisor (Day Shift)

Position: Day Shift Supervisor Reports to: Plant Manager Company: Pan Glo Location: 800 Moen Ave. Unit #3 Rockdale, IL 60436 Shift: Day 5 a.m. – 5 p.m. Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 per year plus bonuses. Must work weekends; Tuesdays/Wednesdays scheduled off but not guaranteed. Position Summary The Shift Supervisor works closely with the Plant Manager, ensuring procedures are followed, and is responsible for ensuring pans are processed and that employees perform their jobs efficiently. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Hands‑on preventive maintenance. Break/Fix – hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, sensors, and wiring (480). Ensure timely processing of pans throughout the manufacturing process. Work closely with the plant manager to schedule shift times. Communicate effectively with the plant manager using both written and verbal skills. Hold employees accountable for their actions and ensure all follow correct procedures. In the plant manager’s absence, schedule trucking and shift start times. Complete work‑orders. Ensure die molds are ready for upcoming production runs. Check the specific gravity of glaze material and adjust if necessary. Work closely with employees using a “hands‑on” approach. Perform mechanical repairs when possible. Maintain housekeeping of the plant both inside and outside. Check the first glazed pan at the start of each glazing operation to ensure proper coverage and adjust if necessary. Ensure trucks are loaded correctly. Ensure pan count is correct and constantly monitor quality of the entire process. Ensure all employees use proper PPE at all times. Ensure any required safety checks are performed and documented. Immediately notify the plant manager or supervisor of any quality issues. Report unsafe conditions to the plant manager immediately and correct the problem if possible. Understand and be familiar with all other job descriptions, operations, and hazards. Perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the plant manager. Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills High school diploma or GED, or related experience and/or training (one to three months). Equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, company handbook, and procedure manuals. Physical ability to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate via talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. Proper safety equipment: safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, plant‑approved gloves, long pants, and long‑sleeved shirts required. Face shield required when pouring die molds. Aluminized jacket required when pouring die molds. Must be able to lift and/or move more than 75 pounds. Ability to push, pull, bend, twist at the waist, bend at the elbow, lift from the floor, and turn the head. Under no circumstances may the duties be performed without full knowledge and understanding of required safety responsibilities.
