Department : Humana Health System Sci Inst Salary : 65,300-80,000 Description Responsible for the operations of a large program or center within the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine (COM). Oversees staff, budgets, and projects. Oversees a large department, program or center within COM. Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met. Hires and directs the activities of staff. Resolves personnel issues as they arise. Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development. Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center. Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed. Represents department or center to internal and external constituents. Performs other job-related duties as required at the COM. Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Additional Job Posting Information The Program Director plays a critical role in advancing the Humana Institute's academic, operational, and community-engaged initiatives. This position provides hands‑on leadership across multiple programs, coordinates cross‑college and external partnerships, and ensures the smooth execution of student, faculty, and community‑facing activities. The Director works closely with Institute leadership to operationalize priorities, strengthen workflows, and represent the Institute to internal and external partners. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and relationship‑driven, with strong experience managing interprofessional projects and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities Program Management & Integration Coordinate and manage integrated programs across participating colleges (e.g., Summer Health Research Program (SHERP), Undergraduate and Graduate programs. Oversee day‑to‑day program operations, including scheduling, timelines, deliverables, and reporting. Review and approve time records, ensuring compliance with program expectations. Maintain program documentation, workflows, and SOPs to ensure consistency and continuity. Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement Support and strengthen relationships with internal and external partners, including Humana, Houston Health Department, TACHC, local health systems, and community organizations. Coordinate partnership meetings, track deliverables, and maintain up‑to‑date partnership files and agreements. Represent the Institute at external events, meetings, and community forums when appropriate. Prepare partnership briefs, updates, and summaries to support leadership communication and engagement activities. Event Planning & Execution Lead planning and logistics for Institute programs and events, including student programs, interprofessional grand rounds, community forums, and partner convenings. Manage event operations such as venue coordination, vendor management, catering, audiovisual needs, registration systems, run‑of‑show, and on‑site execution. Utilize tools such as Qualtrics, RedCap, Eventbrite, or Excel for tracking attendance and engagement. Partner with marketing and communications teams to develop promotional materials and post‑event communications. Administrative & Operational Support Supervise 2 program staff, and graduate students Establish and maintain accurate records, files, and documentation systems for programs, partnerships, and events. Support development of materials for presentations, annual reports, grant updates, and external‑facing communications. Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and recommend improvements to leadership. Qualifications Master's degree in public health, health administration, education, business, or a related field. PhD preferred 3-5 years of experience managing programs or managing projects in academic, healthcare, or community‑based settings. Experience working with interprofessional teams and diverse partners. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
