Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, preparing financial reports, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and supporting compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role works closely with management to provide financial insights and maintain strong internal controls. Responsibilities Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Manage and perform month-end and year-end closing activities. Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and balance sheet accounts. Analyze financial data and investigate variances. Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities. Support external audits and coordinate with auditors to provide required documentation. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations. Maintain and improve accounting procedures and internal controls. Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions for accuracy. Assist with cash flow analysis and financial reporting. Prepare sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory filings as required. Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff. Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Experience with financial statement preparation and general ledger accounting. Public accounting experience is a plus. Skills and Competencies Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or Yardi.
