ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Estimator based in our Washington office, you will lead cost estimating for construction projects from early conceptual budgeting through final competitive bid. You will work closely with preconstruction, project management, and operations teams to develop accurate, well supported estimates, manage subcontractor buyout and bid solicitation, and help shape winning proposals for clients across the region. This is a role for someone who is detail oriented, comfortable owning a bid from start to finish, and confident representing Deacon's numbers to clients and leadership alike.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•      Lead full cycle estimating on construction projects, from conceptual budgets through final bid submission, across commercial, multifamily, hospitality, healthcare, industrial, senior living, and tenant improvement markets.

•      Develop detailed quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, and scope breakdowns across all trades and divisions of work.

•      Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor bids, building strong relationships with trade partners.

•      Partner with preconstruction, project management, and operations teams to align estimates with project scope, schedule, and risk.

•      Prepare and present estimates, proposals, and bid packages to clients and internal leadership.

•      Track market pricing trends and maintain accurate historical cost data to inform future estimates.

•      Mentor and support less experienced estimators on the team.

•      Participate in bid strategy discussions and contribute to decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

•      8 or more years of commercial construction estimating experience, with a track record of leading estimates independently.

•      Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, cost estimating, and bid processes.

•      Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project.

•      Experience with On Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, SmartBid, or similar estimating or bid management software.

•      Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills with the ability to build trust across teams.

•      Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

WHAT WE OFFER

Compensation $120,000 to $190,000 DOE
