This position is for a Sterile Processing Technician responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and availability of surgical instruments and equipment. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, possess a keen eye for detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a sterile environment by effectively processing, sterilizing, and distributing surgical instruments and supplies.
• Process an average of 1200 surgical trays daily, ensuring all instruments are accounted for and properly maintained.
• Pick cases accurately and manage supplies with a strong understanding of surgical procedures.
• Participate in departmental teaching initiatives, contributing to a learning environment for new staff.
• Work collaboratively as part of a motivated team focused on quality and excellence in surgical services.

Schedule and Commitment

• Work schedule: Day shift, 5 days a week (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM).
• Assignment length: 13 weeks.
• Weekend shifts are required, and employees may be called off for one shift per two-week period.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing.
• Certification from either CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA is required.
• First-time travelers are welcome, provided they have at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to float between similar units as needed.

Orientation and Training

• Initial orientation lasts 3 days, with the first day scheduled from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Days 2 and 3 will follow with a schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
• On the fourth day, the technician will transition to their contracted shift.

Additional Information

This position is located in a Level II Trauma Center that specializes in various surgical specialties, including Neuro, Orthopedics, robotics, and pediatrics.
