Job Title and Compensation Inspector – I or II, Medical Board of California Probation Monitoring Unit – North. Salary Range: $4,524.00 - $5,607.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. About the Role This position reports to a Supervisor I and, for Inspector I, works under the guidance of an Inspector II. The incumbent manages a caseload of physicians on probation, monitoring compliance with disciplinary orders and identifying issues that require escalation. The role requires regular travel across the assigned geographic area and is subject to fingerprint and medical clearance. For Inspector II, the role includes independent inspections, managing a caseload of more complex probationers, serving as a subject‑matter expert, providing training to lower‑level staff, and leading as needed. Both roles support a diverse and inclusive workplace and strive to improve outcomes for all Californians. Responsibilities Inspector I Responsibilities Manage a caseload of physicians on probation. Monitor probationers’ compliance with disciplinary orders. Identify and refer compliance issues to the Inspector II or Supervisor I for further action. Travel regularly across the assigned geographic area. Maintain sensitive and confidential information. Inspector II Responsibilities Conduct independent inspections. Manage a caseload of difficult and complex probationers. Serve as a subject‑matter expert and lead the team. Monitor compliance with disciplinary orders and refer issues to the Supervisor I. Provide training to lower‑level staff. Travel regularly across the assigned geographic area. Minimum Requirements Inspector I – minimum qualifications as specified in the Class Specification. Inspector II – minimum qualifications as specified in the Class Specification. Special Requirements Fingerprint and medical clearance required. Valid driver’s license; applicant must provide a PDF copy of the front and back of the license. Participation in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program (EPN). Ability to travel across the geographic area and make overnight stays when necessary. Office Location & Telework Hybrid arrangement; work location in Northern California.
