This is an ideal opportunity for a college student or recent graduate interested in gaining valuable clinical experience during a gap year or while preparing for medical school, PA school, NP school, or another healthcare professional program.We are a small, close-knit pediatric practice dedicated to providing exceptional, personalized care to children and their families. Our team enjoys a friendly, supportive work environment with excellent camaraderie.No prior Medical Assistant experience or certification is required. We will provide clinical training!What Makes This Opportunity Special?This is much more than a traditional Medical Assistant position. You will work closely with an experienced pediatrician and nursing staff, gaining valuable exposure to patient care while also learning how a medical practice operates behind the scenes.We believe in mentoring future healthcare professionals and providing opportunities to develop clinical skills, professional confidence, and an understanding of the rewards and challenges of practicing medicine.ResponsibilitiesAssist physicians and nurses with patient visits and clinical proceduresObtain vital signs, heights, weights, and other patient measurementsPrepare examination rooms and assist with patient flowAssist with immunization-related workflows and other clinical tasks as appropriate to training and applicable requirementsCommunicate with patients and familiesAssist with front desk responsibilities, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and patient registrationLearn about electronic medical records, insurance processes, and the business and administrative aspects of running a medical practiceWork collaboratively with our cross-trained clinical and administrative teamQualificationsCollege graduate or currently pursuing a college degree; graduates preferredInterest in pursuing a career in medicine, physician assistant studies, nursing, or another healthcare professionStrong academic background and enthusiasm for learningExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsCompassionate, dependable, organized, and comfortable working with children and familiesPrevious clinical experience helpful but not requiredMedical Assistant certification not requiredCommitment of approximately one year preferredWhat We OfferFlexible scheduling, approximately 20–40 hours per week, with the possibility of increased hoursBoth full-time and part-time applicants are welcome!
