Retail Pharmacy Manager

Site Mass General Brigham Incorporated – Nantucket Cottage Hospital, 57 Prospect Street Job Summary Directs daily operations of pharmacy services. Provides leadership and guidance to pharmacy staff, determines short and long‑term goals for the department, and supports pharmacy staff. Participates in the development of policy and procedures, and oversees staff development and performance evaluation. Responsible for recruitment, training, and staff scheduling. Offers a $15,000 sign‑on bonus as part of the compensation package. Essential Functions Provides leadership, guidance, and serves as a role model to staff. Supervises daily operations of pharmacy services; schedules and assigns staff. Acts as a resource for pharmacy policies to pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other hospital staff. Participates in on‑call responsibilities as assigned. Conducts staff development and performance evaluation. Assists in recruitment, interviews, and training of new staff. Participates in the development of policy and procedures. Conducts educational programs, in‑services, and staff meetings. Qualifications Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (required); Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (required if not a Doctor). Licenses and Credentials: MA Pharmacist License (required). Experience: 1–5 years of related experience preferred; 2–3 years of related pharmacy management experience required; 3–5 years preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal, written, and quantitative skills. Comprehensive knowledge of department operations. Knowledge of pharmacology of drugs and legal aspects of dispensing. Interpersonal skills necessary to educate and supervise staff, typically acquired after three to five years of related hospital experience. Ability to work accurately and make decisions under stress and time constraints. Strong attention to detail.
