Job TitleWhat We Offer:Competitive salary: $41.50/hourPaid holidaysAnnual cost of living increasesEligibility for safety bonuses (based on safety criteria)Paid onboard trainingComprehensive benefit package (medical, dental, vision) – upon enrollment401KUnion/CBA coverage (after 90-days of employment)ASE certification reimbursementCareer advancement opportunitiesTool allowance after one yearBoot allowance after one yearFriendly diverse workplace environmentWork/life balanceKnowledge and Experience:High school diploma or GED requiredTwo (2) years technical degree or equivalent experience preferredThree (3) to five (5) years progressive heavy equipment maintenance experience requiredASE transit certifications preferred with an expectation to pursue additional certificationsAdditional training from mechanical/technical schools, courses or seminars desirableExperience with heavy equipment requiredUnderstanding of all systems onboard the fleet transportation vehiclesComponent/system understanding: air conditioning, brakes, engine, transmission, suspension and steering, electrical, fuel, lubrication, and differentialsExperience with complex diagnostic computer equipment and software requiredMust have an in-depth understanding of the design, adjustment, and overhaul of ADA equipment, air conditioning, brakes, chassis, cooling system, engine, interior/exterior lighting, gauges and controls, safety equipment, fire suppression system and sensitive edges, tires and transmissionsMust be able to work amid constant interruptions, have ability to prioritize and be detail orientedMust have leadership skills and ability to mentor and provide instructionMust have good communication skills, ability to both verbally and in written format document questions and diagnostic information to management personnelMust be able to perform physical activities including working on top of coaches and lifting up to seventy-five (75) poundsMust be flexible and work in a 24/7 environmentMust have clean driving record and a commercial driver's licenseMust be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background checkAccountabilities/Responsibilities:Detect, diagnose and repairs coaches concentrating on major complicated/complex problems including but are not limited to; ADA equipment, air conditioning, brakes, chassis, cooling system, engine, interior/exterior lighting, gauges and controls, safety equipment, fire suppression system, sensitive edges, tires and transmissionsPerforms both in-house and road call coach repairs using various hand, power, pneumatic and precision toolsPerforms upgrades and/or modifications on coach systems and equipment per manufacturers recommendations or client requestsUtilizes computer diagnostic equipment to include but not limited to; Cummins Insite, Allison prognostics, complex electrical schematics; ladder logic diagrams, VANSCO and DINEX coach control systems to diagnose troubleshoot coach electrical functionsResearches and evaluates coach problems, provides comprehensive analysis to management in both written and oral formatAssists Foreman to track trends, parts usage and costs utilizing work orders, preventative maintenance sheets, road calls and experienceTest coaches for proper working order including road-driving testsFills out work orders specifying parts and laborAnswers questions and assists Mechanic B and Mechanic C by providing professional directionPerforms on-the-job instruction to Mechanic B and Mechanic C pertaining to diagnosis and operational theoryInspects reviews and evaluates work performancePhysical Demands and Work Environment:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of the job.
