Director, Technical Program Management

About the Role Director of Technical Program Management (TPM) – Finance Technology team, individual contributor. Lead complex, multi‑year integration initiatives, define large‑scale integration strategies, and drive application convergence and data migration in line with Capital One’s long‑term technology vision. Responsibilities Lead complex, multi‑year integration initiatives and define large‑scale integration strategies. Drive application convergence and data migration efforts. Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle. Communicate and collaborate effectively with product, engineering, design, and data science teams. Simplify complex technical matters and facilitate well‑educated decisions. Ensure execution, follow‑through, accountability, and results. Collaborate across functions and reporting boundaries to get the job done. Qualifications Strong technical background building highly scalable platforms, products, or services. Experience as a TPM leader with ability to grow and develop a team of TPMs and build foundations for the TPM practice. Quantitative approach to problem solving and collaboration with a holistic systems perspective. Excellent communication, collaboration, influence, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to simplify complex technical issues and drive well‑educated decisions. Highly tuned emotional intelligence, active listening, empathy for teams and partners. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs. Preferred Qualifications 7+ years designing and building data‑intensive solutions using distributed computing. 3+ years building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services or architecture (preferably AWS). 3+ years delivering large and complex programs, owning business or technical vision, collaborating with large cross‑functional teams. Experience building systems in a highly regulated environment. MBA or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent. Compensation Annual salary ranges by location: Cambridge, MA – $230,400–$263,000; McLean, VA – $230,400–$263,000; New York, NY – $251,400–$286,900; Richmond, VA – $209,500–$239,100. Incentives may include cash bonus or long‑term incentives.
