Registered Nurse - Emergency Psychiatric Services

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Psych Services department plays a crucial role in patient care by utilizing the nursing process to provide both direct and indirect care in all assigned areas. The RN will be tasked with developing and continuously updating individualized interdisciplinary plans of care, evaluating patient outcomes, and identifying resource availability for patients with psychiatric illnesses.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain individualized interdisciplinary plans of care.
• Evaluate patient outcomes regularly and adjust care plans as necessary.
• Identify and refer patients to appropriate resources.
• Provide care to patients aged 5 and up with a range of psychiatric diagnoses, including major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders, and psychotic disorders.
• Address any medical care needs as required.

Schedule

This is a Night shift position, with hours from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• At least 1 year of previous experience in mental health nursing is required.
• Valid State of Maine RN license is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• CPI training must be current prior to start.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
• Able to manage stress and make decisions under pressure.
• Flexibility to provide coverage 24/7 is required.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
