General Medicine Clinical Nurse Coordinator

Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a General Medicine Clinical Nurse Coordinator to support our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this patient-centered Registered Nurse role, you will blend direct bedside care with clinical coordination responsibilities, ensuring that patients on our general medicine service receive safe, timely, and evidence-based care. Working within a collaborative environment that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and professional growth, you will act as a clinical resource for staff while helping to guide daily operations on the unit.

The General Medicine Clinical Nurse Coordinator is responsible for comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for a diverse adult patient population with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. You will coordinate patient flow, support admissions, discharges, and transfers, and work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, case managers, pharmacists, therapists, and other members of the interprofessional team to ensure smooth, well-communicated transitions of care. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you will help align care with established pathways and protocols, reinforce best practices, and promote adherence to Mission Health policies and regulatory standards.

In this role, you will mentor and support nursing colleagues by offering real-time guidance, problem solving, and clinical decision support. You will assist in the orientation and ongoing development of new nurses and support staff, helping to cultivate a strong culture of safety, professional accountability, and continuous learning. The position also includes participation in quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring key quality and safety indicators, contributing to process improvement projects, and helping to implement changes designed to enhance patient outcomes and experience.

The General Medicine Clinical Nurse Coordinator will provide clear, compassionate communication to patients and families, ensuring they understand care plans, medications, and follow-up needs. You will play a key role in discharge planning, coordinating follow-up appointments, community resources, and patient education to support safe transitions beyond the hospital setting. The role may include a blend of on-site and limited remote coordination tasks, such as reviewing charts, participating in virtual case discussions, or completing documentation.
