Welder Role Open This role is for a MIG Welder/Fabricator who supports the manufacturing of conveyor systems. You will interpret blueprints, gather appropriate materials, set up jigs and fixtures, tack components in place, and perform high-quality finish welds on mild and stainless steel. You will contribute directly to the fabrication of structural and custom weldments in a busy production environment. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding in accordance with job orders and production requirements. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and sketches to set up products and builds accurately. Set up, operate, and maintain MIG welding machines and related accessories. Assemble and manufacture weldments based on prints, sketches, or verbal instructions. Take responsibility and initiative for inspecting welds and performing any required repairs. Ship, grind, and prepare surfaces before and after welding as required or instructed. Weld mild and stainless steels using appropriate processes and techniques. Produce various weld types and sizes, including groove, lap, butt, and tee welds. Handle, position, and secure workpieces with or without fixtures as required. Solve fabrication and fit-up challenges, remain observant to details, and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Use manual machinery and fabrication tools to produce your own parts and fixtures when needed. Utilize band saws, saws, grinders, torches, and other fabrication tools to complete jobs. Perform grinding and finishing operations to meet quality and appearance standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow shop safety procedures. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to meet production goals. Operate forklifts and overhead cranes when needed (experience in this area is a plus). Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Downers Grove, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
