In-House Bookkeeper

Direct Counsel is representing a well-established, fast-paced personal injury law firm seeking an experienced In-House Bookkeeper to oversee the firm's daily financial operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with prior law firm experience and strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using QuickBooks
• Manage all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Oversee trust (IOLTA) accounts in compliance with legal and ethical standards
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and account balancing
• Prepare financial statements and reports for firm leadership
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Process bi-weekly payroll and track employee benefits
• Coordinate with external CPA for tax preparation and annual filings
• Ensure compliance with applicable state bar accounting rules and regulations
• Maintain organized financial records and support audits as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of bookkeeping experience, with law firm experience required
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and trust accounting (IOLTA)
• Proficiency in QuickBooks (QuickBooks Online preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality
• Experience with legal case management software (e.g., Filevine) is a plus
