Position Summary The Devos Lab requires a full‑time laboratory technician to assist with research projects, maintain laboratory operations, and provide training to undergraduate and graduate employees. Responsibilities include ordering supplies, managing chemical inventories, maintaining safety records, processing P‑Card transactions, and assisting with greenhouse and field work. The position involves use of a P‑Card for procurement. Key Responsibilities Administer laboratory supplies: order through UGAMart and other platforms, track chemicals using CampusOptics, maintain safety records, and train new student employees on safety and compliance. Serve as a P‑Card holder, processing transactions in compliance with policy. Assist with research activities in the Devos Lab, including plant growth, maintenance, harvesting, laboratory experiments, and preparation of reagents and media. Train undergraduate and graduate students on laboratory protocols and experimental procedures. Assist greenhouse and field sites where plant material for sponsored projects is grown, propagated, and harvested. Perform additional duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Detail‑oriented and accurate for experimental and lab management tasks. Strong organizational skills. Financial acumen for managing budgets and procurement. Strong communication skills. Ability to learn new procedures, solve routine technical problems, and multitask with limited supervision. Ability to train others effectively and efficiently. Knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams). Physical Demands Work in greenhouse and outdoor environments in hot conditions. Lift up to 20 lbs. Some sitting and standing in the laboratory. Drive as needed to perform job duties.
