PRN Certified Nursing Assistant

Position Overview National Emergency Management Response (National EMR) is recruiting Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) for short‑term, standby reserve roles. Reservists will be called upon to provide medical support during local or national emergencies such as hurricanes, mass shootings, wildfire responses, and more. Responsibilities and Duties Understand and adhere to National EMR Policies and Procedures Manual, Uniform Handbook, and Operations Manual. Foster a culture that encourages team members to work safely, identify potential hazards, and report safety concerns immediately to the direct chain of command. Maintain active status within the agency’s platforms, including LMS, to complete training. Assume responsibility for vital signs on patients. Assist patients with activities of daily living including grooming, bathing, eating, mobility, etc. Ensure complete and appropriate documentation on medical records. Collaborate with nurses (LVNs and RNs) for tasks to complete by end of shift. Maintain familiarity with signs and symptoms of improved or declined medical status. Report changes in patient’s condition quickly to LVN or RN. Ensure patient’s comfort and well‑cared‑for status while under care of doctors and nurses. Ensure patient rooms stocked with adequate supplies as required. Recognize signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and sexually provocative behavior and implement reporting protocols. Maintain first aid kits per licensing standards. Assist in medical intake process in collaboration with other staff. Maintain confidentiality of health records in accordance with HIPAA, PHI requirements, and National EMR protocols. Assist with distributing daily medical list to designated staff. Participate in transport of clients to and from medical clinic for appointments. Implement National EMR safety protocols including evacuation with clients and staff during emergency. Other duties as assigned. Note: This role is not full‑time; reservists may be deployed on an as‑needed basis, work intermittently, and be required to deploy within 24‑48 hours. Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Certified Nursing Assistant certificate and eligibility to work in the state of residence. Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in a healthcare setting. Current driver’s license with good standing and no restrictions. Willingness to obtain additional licenses/certifications as required. Ability to respond sensitively and competently to diverse populations, work collaboratively, maintain professionalism in written and verbal communication. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, maintain composure, and make decisions in line with program needs. Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Suite. Detail oriented and organized; able to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams. Ability to communicate effectively using multiple systems (cellular, two‑way radio, satellite, etc.). Physical capability to walk, stretch, bend, lift, and sometimes exceed 50 lbs. Work extended hours and non‑traditional hours, including weekends, evenings, holidays, in austere conditions. Current physical‑medical release and proof of immunizations including influenza, MMR, Varicella, HepB, HepA, Tetanus, PPD/IGRA or chest X‑ray; Meningococcal preferred. Successful completion of a drug screening. Must provide proof of valid driver’s license annually.
