Position Summary The Clinical Nurse Consultant II will develop and implement nursing educational programs for nursing service personnel in a clinical service. The role is accountable for facilitating delivery of patient care using the Nursing Process and Relationship‑Based Care model, providing patient care and consultation, coordinating staff educational development, and acting as a role model in clinical practice. The CNCII strives to improve patient outcomes by integrating shared leadership, evidence based practice, and nursing excellence into clinical practice. Duties & Responsibilities Participates in planning and coordination of nursing activities of various clinical services, designs and conducts studies to define the scope of nursing responsibilities. Assists staff in developing effective nursing care plans by studying existing programs, identifying deficiencies, and developing remedial educational programs. Analyses and outlines factors essential to effective performance in a specialized clinical service, establishes performance standards for nursing personnel. Identifies and develops improved methods and techniques, demonstrates nursing care methods specific to a specialized clinical service. Provides guidance to professional nursing staff in continuity of care for patients cared for by students. Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patients’ changing needs. Collaborates with, supports, and participates in departmental and organizational education and initiatives through Clinical Practice and Professional Development. Initiates, conducts, and analyzes evidence‑based practice research to improve patient care outcomes and supports other nursing and multidisciplinary research efforts. Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. MSN (or higher) from an accredited nursing program. Eligibility for registration with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Two (2) years of nursing experience in the assigned branch of service, with one (1) year comparable to a Clinical Nursing Consultant I. Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit specific certifications. Current advanced cardiac life support, or within 6 months of hire for the main hospital. Nationally certified through ANCC approved certifier, or within 6 months of hire in a relevant area. Ability to select appropriate teaching methods based on employees’ backgrounds. Effective oral and written communication skills facilitating therapeutic relationships. Intermediate computer skills with ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on‑the‑job training. Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history required.
