About This Role
The Lead Teacher oversees the classroom's daily operations and delivers high-quality education and care to children, ensuring a nurturing environment that supports their growth and development.
What You'll Do- Treat all children, parents, and staff with dignity and respect, and use positive discipline techniques to ensure their welfare, health and safety
- Engage in mealtime activities with the children and maintain open lines of communication with families
- Maintain a clean environment, classroom and playground by storing materials in a neat, orderly, and safe manner
- Supervise all classroom and outdoor activities, plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum/learning experiences, and maintain observations and assessments
- Record daily attendance and daily lunch counts in accordance with CACFP and center policy, and plan parent-teacher conferences
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, attend workshops, conferences, and all in-service trainings to meet OEC requirements, and perform other duties as required
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum/learning experiences in line with the CT-ELDS and NAEYC Standards
- Use appropriate food handling, sanitation and OSHA procedures at all times, and greet and address each child by name
- Maintain records and perform administrative tasks as necessary
- Minimum of a CDA with 12 credits in Early Childhood Education
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Bachelor's Degree in a non-related field including 36 credits in Early Childhood Education strongly preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Families of children with medical conditions require an Epi-pen and medication certification from the Lead Teacher, a First Aid and CPR certification is highly valued
