Clinical Education: A thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, and clinical oncology is essential. You must be knowledgeable in radiation physics, radiation safety, and basic dosimetry theories. Proficiency in the safe and proper operation of linear accelerators and simulator equipment is required. The role demands the ability to follow complex instructions for patient setup and to maintain an efficient daily treatment schedule with minimal supervision.

Effective communication skills are crucial, as you will interact with patients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and varying coping abilities, as well as collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff members. Understanding growth and development across all age groups and tailoring treatment accordingly is important.

The position involves significant physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting. High visual acuity is necessary for assessing portal images, reviewing documentation, and performing computer work. Good auditory perception is also required to monitor patients and receive verbal orders. You will work with equipment that produces radiation and may encounter infectious materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols. The role often involves caring for adult cancer patients, individuals with HIV, and terminally ill patients, sometimes under stressful conditions.

Education and Certification: Must hold ARRT certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
