Farmington Country Club presents an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our high-volume and fast-paced Food and Beverage team as the Event Operations Manager. Our Event Operations team consistently delivers exceptional service and execution for a wide range of member events—from intimate gatherings to large-scale club functions—ensuring each experience is seamless, polished, and memorable. They are passionate about hospitality, service excellence, and creating elevated, personalized experiences for members and their guests.Event Operations at Farmington Country Club plays a central role in bringing the club’s social calendar to life. The team oversees the execution of private events, club-hosted functions, holiday celebrations, and large-scale signature events across multiple venues on property. Each event space offers a unique atmosphere and service style, requiring adaptability and a keen understanding of varying member expectations. The Event Operations team works closely with culinary, beverage, and service teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality experiences, ensuring every event reflects the club’s standards of excellence.Job Summary:Responsible for the daily operation of event functions throughout the Club, to include hiring, training and supervising staff; service of the event menus; maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary dining, service, and storage areas; preparing and managing the budget; designing and implementing new events; and developing and implementing employee incentive programs.Responsibilities:Hire, train, and lead the Event service team of 30+ employees and 4 assistant managers;Work with the Director of Food and Beverage to articulate a department vision that aligns with the vision for the ClubDevelop annual department and individual goals and take responsibility for their achievementParticipate in the development of the annual budget for the department and ensure that all budgeted objectives are metManage event service, to maintain high standards of qualityMaintain active floor presence throughout the event, greeting host and being readily available for their needsWork with the Beverage Manager to ensure that event beverage service program goals are met, including setup standards, TIPS training, controls, monthly inventory, requisitions, and adherence to state liquor lawsEnsure service consistencyManage staff schedules and monitor time and attendance policyDevelop and implement service training programs and materialsConduct staff performance reviewsEnsure the proper completion of checklistsEnsure that event service areas are clean, safe, and sanitary at all timesProvide accurate and timely information for the billing processParticipate in daily meetings with event service and event kitchen staffParticipate in weekly banquet/catering meetingsParticipate in regular meetings with the Director of Food and BeverageDevelop and implement employee incentive programs that create teamwork and achievement of goalsPromote and demonstrate strong interdepartmental relationsServe on the Club’s Safety Committee and Closing Manger on Duty rotationQualifications:A minimum of 5 years of similar, supervisory experience in a restaurant, resort, hotel, or club environmentCollege degree in Hospitality Management or Business preferredExperience managing similar volume levels and a large team of line level staff and assistant managers;Advanced knowledge of beverage and wine service; beverage certifications preferred;Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service;Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well in a team;High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook);High level of proficiency in Point of Sale, Time and Attendance and Inventory applications;Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a high-paced environment;Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours consecutively;Ability to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds;Expectations:Maintain flexibility with work schedule in accordance with business needsEffectively manage shifts and maintain high service standards, paying close attention to detailDevelop a rapport with the membership and address them by nameBe proficient with the daily administration of the events and complete assigned duties and responsibilities in a timely mannerDevelop strong communication skills with your management team, colleagues, service staff and culinary staffBe energetic and enthusiastic during the shift, while maintaining a professional work environmentDevelop your team for all styles of events, one that works together and uses effective communicationBe a leader and set the standards that you would like your team to followFoster a positive working relationship with event planning and culinary teamBe a team member not an individualClub Highlights:Farmington Country Club is a premier, full-service private club in Central Virginia. Farmington is a member-owned club founded in 1927, and recognized as a Platinum Club of America. Portions of the clubhouse date to 1780 and were designed by Thomas Jefferson. The grounds of Farmington Country Club cover 275 landscaped acres and include the clubhouse, guest rooms, athletic facilities, tennis courts and golf course.The club has two restaurants, an upscale dining room (195 seats) a grill restaurant (215 seats) and a fast-casual poolside grill; each has its own kitchen. In addition, there are private dining rooms seating 100, 50, 40 and 12, a ballroom seating 250 and two seasonal snack bars. Sports facilities include 28 holes of golf, 15 outdoor and three indoor tennis courts, three paddle tennis courts, a swimming complex with diving and lap pools and a zero-depth recreation area, and a professionally staffed fitness center.
