Payroll Specialist
DuraServ Corp
Job Description
Job Description
BEHIND EVERY LEGEND IS A FLAWLESS FOUNDATION.
EVERY TEAM MEMBER. EVERY CYCLE. EVERY TIME.
That standard exists because of you.
DuraServ is looking for a Payroll Specialist who treats accuracy as a non-negotiable standard and understands that every number on a paycheck represents a person.
Coppell, TX (On-Site)
Payroll Isn't Paperwork. It's a Promise.DuraServ operates across nine regions, with hundreds of technicians, sales professionals, and branch employees who depend on payroll being processed accurately and on time — every single cycle, without exception. When payroll runs flawlessly, nobody notices. When it doesn't, everyone does.
As a Payroll Specialist on our Corporate Shared Team Services team, you are the person who makes sure that promise is kept. You'll manage weekly and semi-monthly payroll cycles, administer Time & Attendance in ADP Workforce Now, navigate certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements, and handle the full spectrum of deductions, special pay, and compliance reporting that a national, multi-state workforce demands.
If precision is your standard and reliability is your reputation — this role was built for you.
What You'll OwnThe Cycles
- Direct the preparation and processing of weekly and semi-monthly payroll for a multi-state, multi-location workforce using ADP Workforce Now
- Manage the Time & Attendance system — resolving timecard errors, auditing time reporting, and ensuring every hour worked is captured correctly before processing
- Calculate pro-rata pay and administer special pay including stipends, commissions, bonuses, and prevailing wages with precision and consistency
The Compliance
- Handle certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage administration — accurately, completely, and on schedule
- Administer all deductions including benefits, garnishments, and 401K with a zero-tolerance standard for error
- Adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal payroll laws and maintain audit-ready payroll records at all times
- Generate reports for data analysis and compliance verification — translating payroll data into clear, actionable documentation
The Partnership
- Serve as a knowledgeable, responsive resource for team members and managers with payroll questions — you resolve issues quickly and communicate clearly
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and branch operations to ensure payroll data integrity across all systems
- Identify process gaps and contribute to continuous improvement of payroll operations — you don't just process; you improve
You don't round. You don't estimate. You don't submit until it's right — because you understand that a payroll error isn't just a number problem, it's a people problem.
- Detail-oriented to a professional standard — errors catch your eye before they reach a paycheck, and you correct them before anyone has to ask
- Calm under pressure — payroll deadlines don't move, and neither do you when it matters most
- Technically proficient in ADP Workforce Now — required, not preferred. You know the system and you use it well.
- Knowledgeable in the end-to-end payroll cycle: wages, bonuses, overtime, garnishments, deductions, commissions, and leave types
- A clear communicator — you explain payroll processes and resolve discrepancies with patience and professionalism
- Self-directed and reliable — you manage your deadlines, your queue, and your accuracy without needing oversight
Required
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now payroll software — this is a firm requirement, not a preference
- Demonstrated experience with Certified Payroll reporting and Prevailing Wage — candidates without this experience will not be considered
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience in a multi-state or multi-location environment
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll compliance requirements
Preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel for payroll reporting and data analysis
- Experience with HRIS and Time & Attendance systems integration
DuraServ's Corporate Shared Team Services function is the infrastructure that keeps nine regions running. Payroll isn't isolated from operations — it's connected to every team member who shows up every day expecting to be paid correctly. Your work has real reach and real consequence.
- Competitive compensation and full benefits package: medical, dental, vision, and 401K with company match
- Company-provided life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
- Stable, office-based environment with no travel requirement
- A team that values accuracy, accountability, and continuous process improvement
- Professional development and a clear path for growth within the STS function
If you've been in a payroll role where the volume was high, the standards were unclear, and the work felt thankless — this is a different environment. DuraServ's Shared Team Services function was built on the belief that precision work deserves a precise standard — and the people who deliver it deserve to work somewhere that takes that seriously.
Behind every legend is a flawless foundation. Come help us build it.
