Job Description

Ares is a leading participant in the global alternative credit markets with approximately $51 billion of assets under management (“AUM”) invested across multiple, actively‑managed funds as of December 31, 2025. The Alt Credit Team today comprises over 60 investment professionals located primarily in four Ares offices: New York City, Atlanta, San Diego and London.

Ares’ Alt Credit platform employs strategies that are asset‑focused, making investments backed by assets and contractual cash flows such as loans, leases and receivables. Alt Credit fills gaps in the capital markets between credit, private equity and real estate, investing across a spectrum of liquid and illiquid opportunities that include various specialty finance sectors, net leases, structured products, cash flow streams (e.g., royalties, licensing, management fees), and other asset types. Alt Credit has a broad range of sub‑strategies designed to be client‑focused and solutions‑based with three main formats: pure play, customized and flagship funds.

Background

Over the past several years, Ares Alternative Credit has committed to donating 5–10% of carried interest from select funds to high‑impact global health and education initiatives. To date, this effort has generated significant philanthropic capital, with the potential to exceed $250 million over the next decade.

In parallel, Ares has launched Promote Giving, an industry initiative encouraging other investment firms to commit a portion of their carry to charitable causes, with the goal of scaling impact across the broader financial ecosystem. (

Ares is seeking an individual to help build and scale its charitable efforts within Alternative Credit and across the firm’s Promote Giving initiative. This individual will play a central role in expanding philanthropic partnerships, strengthening community engagement, and driving strategic communications as Promote Giving continues to grow.

The Senior Associate/Vice President should be comfortable building partnerships across investment firms, non‑profits, and other stakeholders as Promote Giving continues to grow, while also fostering community and driving communications across multiple platforms. The role will also involve engaging with charitable organizations as potential partners and helping to establish a structured, process‑oriented approach to sourcing, evaluating, and managing these relationships.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable navigating a fast‑moving, entrepreneurial setting. They should excel at relationship‑building, cross‑functional coordination, and communicating across multiple platforms to foster a strong culture of giving within the Ares community.

Primary Function and Essential Responsibilities

Build brand awareness of the Ares Alternative Credit platform via the development & enhancement of our charitable partnerships, lead all marketing & coordination of team events & publications and captain the reporting/monitoring efforts of the Alt Credit charitable endeavors.

Promote Giving & External Partnerships

• Support the growth of Promote Giving by engaging with external investment firms and onboarding new signatories
• Build and manage relationships with non‑profit organizations, foundations, and industry partners
• Foster a connected, active community of Promote Giving participants through coordinated communications, engagement campaigns, and shared learning opportunities.

Charity Sourcing, Reporting & Program Management

• Lead outreach to prospective charitable partners while managing inbound partnership opportunities.
• Coordinate evaluation efforts, including reviewing impact metrics, scalability, and effectiveness
• Build and maintain reporting frameworks to track charitable commitments, impact, and progress
• Provide senior leadership with regular updates on signatory activity, charitable partnerships, and monitoring insights.

Brand, Communications & Thought Leadership

• Enhance the visibility of Ares’ philanthropic initiatives through publications, events, and digital content (e.g., LinkedIn, podcasts)
• Create compelling materials that articulate the firm’s “compounding with purpose” strategy and highlight the impact of Promote Giving
• Coordinate industry‑facing events and initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or international equivalent degree required

Experience & General Requirements

• Passionate about charitable giving and impact‑oriented initiatives
• Familiarity with foundations and philanthropic practices
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders
• Extensive communication and marketing skills
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Coordinate marketing campaigns, events, and initiatives
• Work independently and part of a team
• Cursory knowledge of the financial community and culture.
• Enhance social media presence (LinkedIn, podcasts, etc.)
• Monitor existing charitable programs and provide regular reporting on progress
• Lead, Coordinate & Execute all aspects of (including logistics) for marketing campaigns, events, and other key business initiatives
• Provide regular reports on fundraising progress to senior management
• Drive discussions & manage logistics for approvals for new charitable initiatives from various committees.
• Idea generation to increase overall brand awareness.
• Lead event coordination for the Alt Credit team with various team members.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000-160,000. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance‑based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
