Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Stepdown unit. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients requiring intermediate care, particularly those transitioning from a cardiovascular intensive care unit.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Monitoring and interpreting patient conditions and vital signs.
• Titrating medications as required, including Amiodarone, Nitro, Nicardipine, Epi, and Cardizem.
• Utilizing advanced equipment such as BiPAP and CPAP while troubleshooting as necessary.
• Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7.
• Overseeing patient care and delegating tasks to nurse aides and patient care technicians.
• Floating to same-level and lower-acuity units when required.

Patient Care

This unit accommodates 18 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, and 1:3 for post-surgical patients within the first 24 hours. Common diagnoses include:

• Cardiovascular diseases such as Atrial Fibrillation and Congestive Heart Failure.
• Patients recovering from cardiac catheterizations and other cardiovascular procedures.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a relevant patient population.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips.
• A valid driver's license for travel documentation.

Additional Information

Orientation will be tailored to the needs and previous experience of the candidate, typically lasting 1-2 shifts.

All staff must adhere to the fingernail policy, with artificial nails being prohibited in patient care settings. Non-compliance may lead to contract termination.
