Job Description

Join a specialized drone production team as an Electro-Mechanical Assembler on a day shift schedule (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) in a military and defense manufacturing environment in Santa Ana. In this role, you assemble and integrate complex electro-mechanical systems and electronic components, support production and testing activities, and contribute directly to the build-out of advanced drone platforms. The position offers overtime opportunities during the week and on Saturdays, as well as the potential to transition from a 6‑month temporary assignment into a long-term direct role for strong performers.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electrical assemblies in a manufacturing environment, supporting drone team production and integration activities.
• Assemble complex electro-mechanical systems, including high-quality wire harnesses, test racks, junction boxes, and associated components.
• Carry out hand soldering and component fabrication as required for electro-mechanical and electronic assemblies.
• Use common hand and power tools such as pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, depth micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, multimeters, and specialized test equipment to complete assembly tasks.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly instructions to build and integrate components accurately.
• Perform validation and testing of electronic components using multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, test racks, and other test equipment.
• Support electronic box assembly activities, including troubleshooting and documenting failures with clear, detailed issue tickets.
• Run functional checkouts and tests on completed assemblies and diagnose issues discovered during these processes.
• Assist with testing and operation of RF systems and participate in extensive troubleshooting of PCBA and electronic assemblies.
• Apply common air-frame construction techniques such as rivets, mechanical fasteners, nut plates, and similar hardware in structural assembly work.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams, communicating effectively in verbal and written form to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
• Adapt quickly to changing roles and responsibilities in a fast-paced, challenging work environment while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Support overtime and occasional weekend work as needed to meet production schedules and work order demands.

Essential Skills

• At least 4 years of experience working in a manufacturing setting, preferably within aerospace, electronics, or medical industries, performing mechanical and/or electrical assemblies.
• Strong proficiency with common hand tools and power tools, including pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, depth micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, multimeters, test boxes, and specialized test equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and assembly instructions with a high level of accuracy.
• Working knowledge of common electrical components and their application in assemblies and harnesses.
• Proficiency with computer use, including standard web browsers and word processing applications for documentation and communication.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-paced, challenging production environment and to rapidly change roles or responsibilities as needed.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to interface with engineering and production teams.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, electronic assembly, repair, and electro-mechanical assembly.
• Capability to perform troubleshooting on assemblies and systems using appropriate tools and diagnostic methods.

• Experience assembling complex electro-mechanical assemblies, including high-quality wire harnesses, test racks, junction boxes, and related components.
• Proficiency in hand soldering and component fabrication for electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Experience performing validation and testing of electronic components with multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and test racks.
• Familiarity with common air-frame construction techniques such as rivets, mechanical fasteners, nut plates, and similar hardware.
• Experience in electronic box assembly troubleshooting and writing detailed issue tickets for failures.
• Experience running functional checkouts and tests on completed assemblies and diagnosing issues found during these processes.
• Exposure to testing and operating RF systems and performing extensive troubleshooting on PCBA and electronic assemblies.
• Ability to work with blueprints and schematics for mechanical and electrical integration and assembly.
• Experience with production, assembly, integration, soldering, and mechanical and electronic repair in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

The setting is a military and defense production facility focused on advanced drone systems, with access to a range of mechanical, electrical, and electronic test equipment such as hand tools, power tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and network analyzers. The role follows a day shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime available during the week and on Saturdays as production demands increase. The workplace emphasizes organization, safety, and collaboration while supporting high-paced, technically challenging assembly and testing work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Ana, CA.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
